Hi! I’m Steve Callahan, a copywriter and creative who blends humor and writing to create accessible and engaging brand content. I’m a sommelier (I like my whites salted like the Pacific Ocean) and a screenwriter (ask me about my mythical creature hospital sitcom titled, you guessed it: Mythical Hospital!).  Whether working as part of a team or flying solo I enjoy the editing process and solving problems via the written word.

Work

Social - I like social media that is attention-grabbing without being too in-your-face. Questions, at least for me are a good way to make someone stop scrolling and see what you’re all about.

Email - Here I really wanted to capture the gentle tone of voice that I envisioned for Imaginary. This is supposed to be a place to let your mind think creatively and focus. I felt that coaxing language would help convey the message most effectively.

Homepage - For this project I channeled Headspace and the idea that the mind is a muscle that needs to be worked out. I thought the idea of getting ‘mentally jacked’ was fun and could appeal to a broad swathe of users since it implies braininess and fitness.

SEO - The idea for this project was to create a wellness journal to drive traffic for the app Imaginary. I am a fan of journals for brands like Vuori and Huckberry where there are links to articles and lifestyle tips. With that in mind, I thought this project could be a bit of both: Lifestyle tips, and also a space to reflect on these tips in an effort to get more eyes on the app.

Wine - As the Sommelier at Highland Park Brewery, I am constantly coming up with new ways to make wine stand out in a beer venue. The wine department has grown in sales every year I have been in charge and has helped attract a broader range of clientele.
